Common questions

Guttering and roofing, answered plainly

The questions we get asked most, answered straight. If yours is not here, just give us a call.

About continuous guttering

What is a continuous gutter?

A continuous gutter is a single length of gutter rolled on site to match your roofline, rather than shorter standard lengths joined together. Because the run has no joins along its length, there are far fewer points where water can leak or corrosion can begin.

Are continuous gutters worth it?

For most homes, yes. The joins in a sectional gutter are the parts most likely to fail. Removing them usually means fewer leaks and less maintenance over the life of the gutter, plus a cleaner, straighter line along the roof.

What is the difference between continuous and seamless guttering?

They describe the same thing. Both mean a gutter made in one continuous length with no joins along the run. You will hear continuous guttering and seamless guttering used interchangeably.

Cost and quotes

How much does it cost to replace guttering on a house?

It depends on the length of your roofline, the gutter profile, the height and access, and whether old gutter needs removing first. There is no flat rate, so rather than quote a number that turns out wrong on the day, we measure on site and give you a firm price. Our cost guide sets out what shapes it.

How much is continuous guttering compared to Bunnings gutter?

Off-the-shelf gutter from a hardware store is sold by the length for you to install yourself, and the joins come with it. Our price is supplied and installed by a licensed crew, rolled in one continuous length with no joins. You are paying for the material, the labour and a run that is far less likely to leak.

Is a quote free?

Yes. We come to you, measure on site and give you a written quote with no obligation and no pressure.

The work itself

How much should a gutter fall per metre?

A gutter needs a slight, consistent fall toward the downpipes so water clears rather than pooling. The exact fall depends on the gutter profile and the length of the run. We set the fall as part of the install so the run drains properly, which is one of the things that is easy to get wrong on a DIY job.

Do you replace the fascia at the same time?

Where it makes sense, yes. It is common to find failing fascia once the old gutter comes off. Doing both together gives you one straight, sound roofline rather than a new gutter hung on a tired board.

Can you match my roof colour?

Yes. We work in the COLORBOND range and match new gutter, fascia and roofing to your existing roof so it looks like it belongs.
