Fascia and rooflines

Fascia

Straight, true fascia in timber or metal that carries your gutter properly and finishes the roofline cleanly.

Fascia is the board that runs along the roof edge and carries the gutter. When it rots, twists or pulls away, the gutter goes with it, and no amount of good guttering fixes a fascia that has given up underneath it. We replace and repair fascia so the whole roofline sits straight and holds.

We work in timber and metal fascia. Metal fascia in COLORBOND is a common choice here because it does not rot, does not need painting, and matches the gutter for a clean, low-maintenance finish.

What is involved

  • Inspection of existing fascia for rot, movement and old damage
  • Timber or COLORBOND metal fascia to suit the home
  • Fascia and gutter replaced together where it makes sense
  • Rooflines straightened and brought back to true
  • Colour matched to the gutter and roof

Timber or metal, and when to switch

Older Northern Rivers homes often started with timber fascia, and on the shaded southern side it can last for decades. On the sun-and-rain side it tends to go first, cupping and splitting until the gutter it carries starts to pull away.

When we take an old gutter off and find soft board behind it, swapping to metal fascia at that point usually makes sense. It carries the gutter without the repaint cycle and matches the new run for colour, so the whole edge of the roof is sorted in one visit rather than revisited in five years.

Do the fascia and gutter as one

It is common to find failing fascia only once the old gutter comes off. Replacing both at the same time means one straight, sound roofline rather than a new gutter hung on a tired board.

In our climate, timber fascia on the weather side takes a beating. Metal fascia removes the repaint cycle and the rot that follows it.

Common questions

Can you replace fascia without replacing the roof?

Yes. Fascia and gutter sit at the roof edge and can be replaced on their own, without touching the roof sheets or tiles above.

Should I choose timber or metal fascia?

Both have their place. Metal fascia in COLORBOND is low maintenance and matches the gutter. Timber suits some older or heritage homes. We will talk through what fits yours.

Can you cap over my old timber fascia?

Sometimes. Where the timber underneath is still sound, a metal cap over the top gives the low-maintenance finish without a full replacement. Where the board has rotted, capping only hides the problem, so we check what is behind it before recommending either way.
